Las Vegas, Nevada (October 30 to November 3, 2017): The annual SEMA Show (Specialty Equipment Manufacturing Association) opened its doors on Monday, October 30, 2017 outside the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) for an outdoor media preview to exhibitors and accredited media. Mr. SEMA himself, Mr. Chip Foose (from the Veloctiy reality televisions Overhaulin') opened the festivities with a highly modified Ford Mustang. This was followed by a modified Porsche Cayman fitted into the body of a Porsche 356, from West Coast Customs presented by Mr. Ryan Friedlinghaus. Between these two presentors, represents at least a decade of sequential presentations and launches at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas. On Tuesday, October 31, SEMA announced New Product Award Winners at its annual breakfast. Nearly 3,000 products were entered into 16 different showcase categories and the ultimate winners were selected based on superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and finally marketability. The 2017 Winners were the following: 1. Collision Repair and Refinish Product: ALLDATA, LLC (ALLDATA Collision Advantage); 2. Engineered New Product: Holley/MSD (Racepak Vantage CL1 Cloud Based Data Kit); 3. Exterior Accessory Product: Westin Automotive (HDX LED Grille); 4. Interior Accessory Product: Switch-Pros by Off-Road Engineering (SP9100 Switch Panel Power System); 5. Merchandising Display: Lund International (Lund Truck Center V-Grid); 6. Mobile Electroncs Product: Waylens Inc. (Secure 360 Automotive Security Camera); 7. Off-Road/4-Wheel Product: Austin International Mfg. Inc. (2 Ton big wheel jack); 8. Packaging Design: Liquid Armour Protective Coatings, LLC (9H Cermaric Coating Kit); 9. Performance Racing Product: Holley/MSD (Racepak Vantage CL1 Cloud Based Data Kit); 10. Performance Street Product: COMP Performance Group (COMP Cams FSL Series Camshaft for GM L99); 11. Powersports Product: Holley/MSD (MSD Black Solid State Relay); 12. Street Rod/Custom Car Product: Wilwood Disc Brakes(Tandem Brake and Hydraulic Clutch Pedal Kit); 13. Tire and Related Product: Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. (Evolution HT); 14. Tools and Equipment Product: EZ Pulley (ez pulley); 15. Van/Pickup/Sport-Utility Product: Elongator Tailgates (Elongator Integrated Tailgate and Ramp System); 16. Wheel and Related Product: Chariot Concepts/TruStack Tire Dolly (Valvestem Signpost). The highlight of the morning was the announcement of the 2017 SEMA Award Winners: 1. Hottest COUPE: Chevrolet Camaro; 2. Hottest Sedan: Cadillac CTS-V; 3. Hottest Hatch: Ford Focus; 4. Hottest 4x4 SUV: Jeep Wrangler; 4. Hottest Truck: Ford F-Series. During the show, The Battle of the Builders Top 40 was also announced. The show opened its first doors with the 2017 KIA Press Conference to launch two new vehicles: 1. KIA Stinger GT and the 2. KIA Cadenza. The House of Kolor booth followed with its own 207 Press conference showcasing a newly painted Milk truck with its newest products. The Toyota Press Conference was highlighted by the launch of the new Toyota Camry with NASCAR drivers Mr. Kyle Busch and Mr. Denny Hamlin providing the details of their own versions of the Camry. Finally, Audi Sport and Ford had their own press conferences. Of note was the had Mr. Dale Earnhardt Jr or "Junior"'s number: 88 car on their booth for his final NASCAR season during 2017. The annual SEMA afterparty called SEMA Ignite was highlighted by Mobil 1 and Red Bull Racing drifting exhibition on the Gold Lot of the LVCC by current Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver, Mr. Max Verstappen to a sizeable and applauding crowd who appreciate the exhibition.
