Cologne, Germany (10 October to 14 October, 2015): Once again, the biennial ANUGA Food Show commenced in Cologne, Germany at the Cologne fairgrounds and exhibition space (Koelnmesse) starting on the 10th of October and ran for five straight days until the 14th of October, 2015. For 2015, the ANUGA partner is Greece and therefore on the 10th of October, the show was opened by both Mr. Christian Schmidt (German Minister for Agricultural Development and Food) and the Mr. Evangelos Apostolou (Greek Minister for Agricultural Development and Food). Greece itself had over 200 exhibitors in the 2015 ANUGA. As in years past, over 150,000 visitors are expected to attend the show wiht at least 7000 exhibitors from over 100 countries. Therefore, the ANUGA show has exhibited further growth compared to the last showings in 2011 and 2013. Various countries had numerous exhibits and leading the way was Italy with over 900 exhibitors (and its famous white truffles within ANUGA Fine Foods category) as well as China which also had over 800 exhibitors. The United States had over 190 exhibits on food and beverage. The USA booths grand opening was highlighted by a ribbon cutting on the 10th October by Mr. Michael T. Scuse (Under Secretary for USDA Food and Agriculture) with a prior speech. He emphasized food and trade relations with Cuba and China in his opening remarks. Other highlights include cooking demonstrations by German chef and TV personali, Mr. Stefan Marquard who has owned his own restaurant in Meersburg, Germany for 25 years named: "Drei Stuben". He also had demonstrations with a Japanese Teppanyaki chef. Anuga Meat was highlighted by Argentine Beef and Dutch Veal. Similarly, the Middle Eastern section and ANUGA Bread and Beverage had Turkish bread and sweets with the accompanying Turkish coffee and tea. Finally, as per previous exhibits, two exhibition hallways were devoted exclusively to ANUGA Beverages and Energy Drinks such as the brand new Popeye energy drink and the previously marketed Supernan energy drink based in Munich, Germany.
